UM news: Long history of set-aside bishop proposals

MADISON,  N.J. (UMNS) — Issues of leadership and management have been a part of our life  from the beginning, says the Rev. Robert J. Williams in an excerpt from his  remarks on the proposed “set-aside” bishop. The top executive of the United  Methodist Commission on Archives and History offered a historical perspective on  previous efforts to appoint a nonresidential bishop to provide greater church  oversight.
